Ageism

I was in my early fifties when I began to realize the pervasiveness of ageism in the world, especially in the workplace.  How old were you?

I started to realize that I was facing a stretch of years before retirement in which there was a perception I had nothing to offer.  My engineering skills were obsolete.  I was not going to get hired as a math professor.  And I didn’t know how to reinvent myself.  Still don’t.  I am the comic relief.

Do I coast? I have seven years left to work. Can I coast that long?
